Happy Planner

Planner Goals

Hello friends! Hope all is going well in your life.

As I am trying to finagle my new job and continue my passion for DIY, it’s getting a little hectic trying to keep everything straight. In the past I have shared a couple of planning techniques, which you can find here, but today we will be talking more about different ways you can use your planners. It seems between my lovely friend, Stephanie, who got me into the Happy Planner, plus adding me to many Facebook planner groups (check below for those links), my addiction to planning has gotten even worse, but for the better!

First, lets talk about the importance of staying organized and how it can improve mental health:

  1. Improve self-empowerment and esteem,
  2. Reduce symptoms of depression/anxiety,
  3. Decrease stress,
  4. Have control over schedule and life,
  5. Gain perspective to focus on priorities,
  6. Self-awareness when schedule is becoming overwhelming/disorganized.

Speaking for myself, I’ve noticed how disorganized my life had become just by not being on top of my organization game. The messier my house was, the more depressed and unmotivated I had become. Stress can be such a powerful thing, and the more you let it run your life, the more time passes you by without accomplishing your to do list. I think this was a pinnacle point for me. Knowing so many months had passed by and I was not putting effort into my business or blog while I took my sabbatical from counseling.

For the past couple of months, since having a dual role of counselor and administrative assistant, I have been using my Happy Planner more and more. I have felt less depressed, gained more control over my life and how I spend my time. This allowed me to do the things that are most important to me. I have used it so much that I have found a need for several planners beyond my original Happy Planner. Check out The Chic Life on the “80+ Best Ways to Use Your Planner.” There are so many blog posts on different ways to use your planner, I will save you from being repetitive. What I will do for you, is share what I plan to do with my planners!

My original:

I don’t think I will ever get rid of this book. It was a gift and I am a gift hoarder. (#honesttoafault #iknowitsaproblem #nojudgmentsplease) This will be mainly used for my every day life, fitness goals, and work essentials. There are so many great ideas out there on how to set up your planner between Pinterest, Facebook groups, and YouTube; so no more excuses, get out there and plan! This spread was inspired for my love for the ocean, and boy do I miss it during the summer days! Here’s to the first official week of Summer!

June 24th – 30th

Second planner:

I will be using this one more like a spiritual journal, like, what I did for the day, affirmations, and so on. Since I will be using this mainly in the morning and at night by keeping it on my nightstand. I will also have my recipe section in the back for future recipes.

Third Planner:

This will be my memory keeping book/scrapbook. I really cannot wait to use this planner! I am always taking pictures of my family and would love a way to just take my pictures from the phone and use them in this creative outlet the day I take those pictures. I feel like this would help me remember those days even more. I’ll share more from this book as time goes by. I was so lucky to come by this book, not only was it on clearance, but it came with metal rings!!! EEeeeekkk!! Yes, I get excited about metal rings. I literally did not even notice them until I was flipping through it when I got home last week. LOL.

Last planner/Happynichi:

Ok, I don’t know about you, but when I see the fauxbonichi/happynichi planners, I just start swooning over how creative these planners can be!! If you don’t know about these planners, they are a knock off of the Japanese hobonichi planners which are much smaller than the classic Happy Planners. If you haven’t seen one, I would recommend checking out a couple of YouTube videos on how they are used. They are very cute! Anywho, I have thought long and hard about how I was going to use this book, because I wanted the experience of creating a book from scratch, as well as finding a way to use it without undermining my original Happy Planner. So this one, I will be using as a financial/social media planner.
