Beauty, brains, and personality.
Have you ever loved something so much, it left a hole in your soul if you didn’t nurture it enough? That is what being a DIY chick means to me. My name is Terry McGloin, creator and founder of The DIY Chic and here’s a little background on how I got started
Since a very young age, my mother brought our family together through crafting. From the basic Shrinky Dink’s to painting ceramics, we were always into something at the sight of “boredom.” One of my fondest memories. Through college and work, I began building my repertoire of craft supplies and continued to craft in my spare time. I began to teach myself how to crochet and knit, creating blankets and accessories for friends and family.
After obtaining my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, I spent a couple of years working in the field. If you know what it takes to be a therapist, it takes a lot of energy. I found myself neglecting the things I loved doing the most, which is what brought me to The DIY Chic. For the last year or so I have been on a sabbatical to find something that truly called to me and where I felt I wasn’t settling. I am so happy to announce that this has finally happened for me and I will not have to sacrifice my love for crafting.
If there is one thing I hope comes out of this journey, is building awareness to mental health and the purpose that guides us through life. What that purpose is, that is up to you.
